The arcs of a serpent? What are they?

So with Serpent Shields being all the rage how do they work?  They state that they fire forward?  Is that straight forward from the front?  Is it a 45 degree arc, is it the whole front arc of the vehicle that is targetable?  For that matter how do you even determine the front arc of the serpent?  Is it from the Tips of the wings, or further back?  Thoughts?

  1. I'd not really considered this before, good points all.

My interpretation (which is worth about as much as a warm cup of piss) would be the shield files in the yellow lines (straight forward) you have marked. For Arcs, I think your first one is the most RAW.

  2. Personally I have been playing them like the bottom pic. In 5th ed rulebook the armor facing diagram suggested the facings were equal quarters with the origin in the center of the vehicle. (they showed us a freakin Rhino. Thanks GeeDubz)
In the case of the firing arc; rule states it fires forward. Not that it has a "forward firing arc".
    Just my $0.02

  3. IN absence of something with clear corners (happens with annihilation barges, too) I just usually assume straight 90 quadrants. Just draw an X over the top.
